SST training courses are a bundle of courses that are required for construction workers to work in New York according to local law 196.
Workers are required to complete a certain amount of training hours in order to receive an SST card, which will allow them to work in NYC.
Some SST training courses, like 2-hour drug and alcohol awareness course and 8-hour fall prevention course, are required for workers and supervisors.
Other requirements include the 30 hour OSHA construction course.
Local Law 196 of 2017 requires that construction and demolition workers on job sites with a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager must have a total of 40 hours of training.
Local Law 196 of 2017, requires Supervisors at job sites requiring a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager receive 62 hours of site safety training (SST).
This only includes Site Safety Managers, Site Safety Coordinators, Concrete Safety Managers, Construction Superintendents and Competent Persons designated by Construction Superintendents.
